From a Dream to the Sail

The story of VeleroSantaMarta did not begin in a port, but in the childhood of Luis Martínez. Raised in a family where the sea was their playground, Luis spent his early years fishing, skiing and diving. For him, sailing was not a hobby — it was a way of life that shaped his DNA forever.

In 2017, after 25 years in Banking and Consulting, Luis traded numbers for the horizon. Together with his family, they boarded the Artivela and set sail from Venezuela toward Colombia. Upon arriving in Santa Marta, just a few days sailing the Tayrona waters were enough to know that this was his place in the world.

VeleroSantaMarta was born — a nautical experience that did not exist in the city until then. What started with the Artivela (Cooper Maple Leaf, 56 ft) became the most visited experience in Santa Marta. The Filavia II Catamaran (Fountaine Pajot, 43 ft) followed. Today we are an invitation to live the Caribbean as a true sailor, discovering Tayrona the most authentic way: by sea.
